Monday is not usually my day to pick up Maddy after school, because Rachel always has Monday off, so she picks her up. But Sunday when Maddy was leaving my house, I forgot that I don't pick her up on Monday, so I told her I would see her after school tomorrow (Monday)!
When I woke up today, it was 3 o'clock, so I jumped out of bed in a hurry to go pick up Maddy at 3:30, then I remembered that I don't pick her up on Monday. I called Rachel to remind her that it was her day to pick up Maddy, and she said that Maddy was really excited that I was going to pick her up after school, so I should do it!
So, not wanting to disappoint Maddy, I got dressed and told Kim if she went with me to pick up Maddy, I would take her to McDonald's afterward. So Kim went with me, even though she didn't really want to.
I parked in front of the school and went to meet Maddy at her classroom door. She was all cheerful and wanted to climb on the MOUNTAINS of snow that are piled up next to the street from the snowplows, and I told her we had to get in the car so we could go to McDonalds to get some fries, but Maddy said she didn't want to get fries.
So I put Maddy in the car, and got in and drove back home, because I didn't really want to go to McDonalds anyway, and Kim wasn't saying anything, as Maddy was babbling in the back seat about what they did in school that day, which was playing with some kind of green slime that was stinky. She kept telling us how stinky it was all the way home!
Until we turned on our street and Kim said, "Hey! I thought we were going to McDonalds!" and I said that Maddy didn't want to so I was just going to go home, and Kim started complaining that SHE wanted to go, and I TOLD her we were going, and that was why she came with me, and then Maddy said, from the back seat, "Calm down!"
And Kim went on griping about going to McDonalds, and Maddy said, "Calm down, there's no yelling in the car!" and Kim said, "And now I'm getting told off by a BABY!"
It was pretty funny, and I took Maddy home and sent Kim to McDonalds to bring us back some food, and it turns out Maddy was hungry after all, because she ate all her fries and her chicken McNuggets! And didn't give any to the dog, haha!
Oh, and also? When Kim came back with the food, she had a large green shake with her, and Maddy reached up and said, "That's mine!" and Kim was so annoyed because she had to share it with Maddy! She poured half of the shake into a glass and gave it to Maddy with a spoon.
So that's what happened to us today. Remember, There is no yelling in the car!
We hardly ever go to McDonalds unless it's March and we can get a Shamrock Shake! I plan on taking every opportunity.
ReplyDeleteThis post made me smile. I liked imagining Maddy telling Kim to "calm down!" I wish she was in my car to remind my boys that there is no yelling in the car.
